FUJIFILM Europe, based in Düsseldorf/Heerdt for more than 50 years, is supporting children’s and youth hospice Regenbogenland with a donation for Christmas. Management, employees, and football club Fortuna Düsseldorf all pitched in to donate for the cause.

FUJIFILM today visited children’s and youth hospice Regenbogenland for a donation ceremony. Peter Struik, Managing Director Fujifilm Europe GmbH, presented the Managing Director of Regenbogenland, Melanie van Dijk, with the financial support of 5.000 Euro and a Fujifilm instax camera. The instant photographs contribute to the culture of memory for the children’s and youth hospice.

Over the Festive season, Fujifilm employees and management jointly collected donations for Regenbogenland. A major part of the donation was amassed via a raffle at this year’s company Christmas party. The lucky winners, who were drawn live on stage, had a chance to win Fujifilm products and branded and signed Fortuna Düsseldorf merchandise, provided by the club through their partnership with Fujifilm.

Fujifilm, impressed by the Regenbogenland concept, which focuses on holistic care for families with terminally ill and severely disabled children, has decided to support the institution. With its roots in analogue photography and photographic film production, Fujifilm has, in recent decades, evolved into an innovative healthcare company, developing technologies in the areas of prevention, diagnostics, and treatment. Accordingly, supporting Regenbogenland is a matter close to the heart of Peter Struik:

Applying our wide range of technologies, FUJIFILM have made great strides in pushing boundaries of medical innovation. We would like to demonstrate our continued commitment through our support of Regenbogenland.

Symbolically, Peter Struik handed over a Fujifilm instax camera, whose instant pictures can be held in hand immediately after taking a snapshot.

Melanie van Dijk, Managing Director since 2013, explains why outside cooperations are so important for Regenbogenland:

High quality care requires considerable financial support. Without our network of dedicated patrons, we would not be able to do our jobs as well as we are. Accordingly, we are very happy to welcome Fujifilm as a new sponsor to Regenbogenland.

For the 2018/2019 season, Fujifilm has partnered with Fortuna Düsseldorf, who have been supporting Regenbogenland since 2007. This inspired Fujifilm to also get involved, true to the motto ‘your partners are my partners’.

About Kinder- und Jugendhospiz Regenbogenland

The family is of primary importance here. The children and youth hospice Regenbogenland is a place, where families with terminally ill or severely disabled children can find support. Additions to home care or short stays with parents and siblings take place in a familial atmosphere. The encompassing care approach, combined with specially trained personnel, considers the individual needs of every one of its young guests. Initially opened as Kinderhospiz [children hospice] Regenbogenland gGmbH in 2004, the institution increasingly took care of adolescents, as medical progress prolonged their guests’ lives. As a result, the additional youth hospice was opened in 2017. The foundation to sustain the institution was established in 2000 as Förderverein Kinder- und Jugendhospiz Düsseldorf e.V.. The foundation’s main responsibility is to provide long-term, sustainable financial security for the hospice. This includes fundraising, sponsor acquisition, press, publicity, as well as supervision of more than 600 members and about 70 volunteers.
